

Own a piece of history from the Latvian House in Toronto, Canada!
This is our third auction for your chance to own a piece of history as the Latvian House will be sold soon, along with all the contents, including an art collection of several well known Latvian artists. We also now have a Yamaha grand piano available.
The process for selling the paintings will be to submit bids in writing to Karina Mierins, karina.mierins@rogers.com, with a subject line of “Latvian House Auction”. The button at the top of this page will create this message automatically. If the button does not work for you, please create the e-mail message manually. Please identify the the item that you will to bid on by including the title and author in your message.
Starting bid prices are listed below each painting along with the dimensions of each painting (largest dimension x shortest dimension). Bids will be accepted in increments of $50 over the starting or most recent bid. The most recent bid will be updated daily and appear on the respective item’s page.
The closing date for the auction is noon EST on Sunday January 17, 2010.
Buyers can pay for their purchases with a certified cheque made payable to: Latvian House Toronto Ltd.
Purchases will be responsible for collecting their purchases from the Latvian House upon receipt of payment. No shipping will be provided.
About the Artists:
Otto Grebze
Was born in Latvia in 1910, came to Canada after WWII where he was a prolific painter for many years known for his landscapes, haystacks, beautiful images of the Latvian and Canadian landscape. His paintings are ion many commercial collections including Ontario Hydro, where he worked when he first came to Canada. He lived in Richmond Hill, Ontario for quite a number of years until he "retired" around 1975. He went travelling, but as any true artist, his art could not be denied and he went right on painting! He moved to Parry Sound, Georgian Bay area where he continued to paint. His niece runs a B&B in Parry Sound called "Sun Rock”. Grebze was also a founding member of the Colour & Form Society in Ontario, Canada.
